Page history last edited by Mary Edgerton 3 years, 11 months ago

Facilitator --       [Lauren Pinsley? Judy Murran]                        NOTE TAKER-  [Lauren?]

Key Issues/Topics (Suggested discussion questions:):

1.       Are there advantages to data being stored and presented from the holdings record, rather than the bibliographic record?

2.       What fields are available in MFHD that also exist in the same or other fields in the Bibliographic record

3.       How is MFHD data displayed in current integrated library systems?

Outcomes:

1.      Suggestions for future enhancements

2.      Guidelines/recommendations

Notes from this group

Discussion about manipulating 866 fields to create summary fields

Discussion about LDR Batch Processing routines to build good data.

Local system issues effect ability to build and store and display data.

Local systems represented in grooup:

Aleph: possible to store 853/863; but some implementations are 866, but problems with multiple holdings records (version  16, 18)

Sirsi Unicorn: 590 in bib record (free text) - but participates in SERHOLD

III Millenium: 853/863

Voyager 853/863

Discussion of what union catalogs & worldcat local could store in holdings and item records. Plans for WorldCat.org & WorldCat Local to be able to harvest & display local notes/subjects etc from LHRs

Pursue storing extended description in 856 field (or subfield u) in the local holdings record.

Glob al discussion of the role of oclc batch processing and e serials and MFHD - and non MARC conversion tools. Lots of ideas.
