Summary: An update on the status of current and planned online and offline products and services that support Local Holdings Maintenance in WorldCat.

                        Myrtle Myers (Product Manager, Holdings & Local Data, OCLC ) and Judy Murran (Consulting Database Specialist, OCLC)

 9:45 -10:45 ACCEPTANCE:  Can less than perfect be perfectly ok?

Summary: How to maintain your local holdings through OCLC's Batch Processing services, and a presentation of the SUNY Oswego batch LHR experience.

 11:00- 12:30    SHARING:               Approaches to control and presentation of Serial Holdings (a panel discussion)

Summary: Four presenters will share their perspectives about projects or processes supporting the presentation of serial holdings.

                        1.)  Caryl Ward, (Head of Acquisitions, Binghamton University Libraries)[electronic and continuing resources departmental changes and experiences]

                        2.) Barbara Swetman (Acquisitions and Serials Librarian;   Hamilton  College)  [ presentation of serial holdings; standards, proceedures, etc].

                        3.) Miguel Figueroa,  (SERHOLD Regional Coordinator,    Middle Atlantic Region )  [SERHOLD presentation and update]

                        4.) Jeff Sohn  (Associate Librarian, Documents and Digital Collections, New York State Library [New York State Newspaper Program-update;summary of project and successes]

 

 12:30-1:30      Lunch

 

 1:30-2:30     OPENESS: Roundtable Discussions

 Summary: Participants will identify key issues for discussion with their peers and break into group discussions around common interests, potentially  contributing to guidelines or recommendations concerning Local Holdings Maintenance and  use of the MARC Holdings Format.  Results will be presented/reported back to the group at large.

 

 2:30-2:45-Afternoon break and snacks

 2:45-3:30      Roundtable group reporting/discussion; wrap;    and next steps
